Off-grid Scotland: Davy McDonald

is a short doc and photographic series about a hardy Scot who's been living off the grid in a tent for the last 12 years. The series explores his decision to go "into the wild” after being diagnosed with the critical heart condition, dilated cardiomyopathy. 

The film was first published online BBC The Social on Thursday 2nd April 2020 and has reached 1.5 million views on the Facebook channel alone.

The short doc was televised on the BBC Scotland channel on the 8th July 2020 at 20:30pm.

and reached 45,000 views in the first 24 hours and has since been shared 468 times. 

The film was awarded "Best in Show" in the Association of Press Photographers Student Awards 2020.
